Compatibility and Ideal Use Cases

This hardware kit fits BMX frames with threaded brake boss mounts designed for 990-style U-brakes. Thread-on brake mounts are found on many freestyle BMX frames, dirt jumpers, and older-style frames. This kit does NOT include brake arms or brake pads—those must be purchased separately. The kit is ideal for replacing worn or missing brake hardware, building up a new frame, or converting from other brake systems to 990 U-brakes. Requires compatible 990 brake arms and pads to complete a functional brake system. Not compatible with frames using bolt-on brake mounts or V-brake bosses.
